I really like this article by Neil McCormick at The Telegraph.
Apart from agreeing with his take on Lana Del Rey and the tortured hypocrisy that binds contemporary artists, by producers and consumers, it highlights very elegantly the guilt, loss, fear and deception that seems to swirl around modern day cultural production. The comments streaming below the article give further texture.
Didn’t it all used to be simpler than this?
It also encourages me further to get something down about the down sides of digital culture. This cropped up at the European Culture Forum and is very much on my mind, I’ll get something up here soon.
